German doctor accused of murdering 15 patients – another shocking case in Germany's medical history

A 40-year-old Berlin doctor has been charged with murdering 15 palliative care patients by using a combination of anesthetics and muscle relaxants without their consent, leading to respiratory arrest and death within minutes. AP News

German prosecutors describe the case as one of the most serious in the modern history of German medicine, comparing it to previous cases of serial killers such as Niels Högel. Wikipedia

Investigations have revealed that the doctor, who has been in custody since August last year, acted without any clear motive other than a "desire to kill".

Authorities have requested a life sentence without the possibility of parole after 15 years, as well as a permanent ban from practicing medicine.

This case has sparked great concern in public opinion and raised questions about controls and oversight in the palliative care sector in Germany.
