Elbasan – Allegations Against Dasantila Tahiraj for Voter Intimidation in the Shpati Area

The election campaign in Elbasan is heating up, as residents of the Shpati area claim they are facing pressure and threats from Socialist Party candidate Dasantila Tahiraj. According to locals, the current MP has been sending intimidating messages linked to employment and economic aid, in an effort to secure votes.

Residents state that Tahiraj, elected in 2021, has failed to deliver on her promises and has been absent throughout her mandate in villages that supported her, such as Hajdara, Shushicë, Gjinar, Zavalinë, Trepsenisht, and others. The lack of investments in these rural areas has led to public disappointment, with many openly supporting other candidates—allegedly prompting aggressive reactions from Tahiraj’s political circle.

In response to the rising concerns, SPAK has established a special task force in Elbasan since April 11 to monitor the election process. It is important to remember that any form of pressure, intimidation, or vote-buying is a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment. Citizens are encouraged to report any attempts to influence their vote—SPAK and the media stand with the public to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
